Silverpoint is the most meditative and interior of my studio modes. Each work will often take 2 – 3 years to complete; where several months of activity at the beginning & end surround a long fallow period…
The works are done on traditionally gessoed wood panels, and are shadowbox framed in maple, painted white with a particular scooped moulding profile. The silverpoint is luminous, slightly reflective of light, and slowly oxidizes over time.
The imagery combines visualizations of higher dimensional geometric figures — polytopes — with renderings of glaciated mountainscapes. The objective is the creation of Serene, Apocalyptic, and Complete worlds.
